Dental crowns are a secure way to fill gaps and help restore your smile if you have missing or damaged teeth. When more tooth structure is compromised than can be repaired with a simple filling, a crown becomes necessary.
To maximize patient comfort we use special mouthpieces during any procedure to prevent soreness/tiredness of jaw muscles. Additionally, we use a research validated process to bond our crowns to ensure for maximum retention and to minimize post-delivery problems.
The process of getting a crown is typically two visits. At the first visit, the doctor will provide anesthetic to ensure comfort and the outside part of the tooth is slenderized to allow space for the crown to fit over the tooth. An impression of the slenderized tooth is taken to allow for fabrication of the tooth colored, ceramic crown. A temporary crown is constructed for wear in the interim while the ceramic crown is being fabricated. The impression is then mailed to a lab where the crown is fabricated.
At the second appointment, the temporary crown is removed and the tooth is cleaned and disinfected. The ceramic crown is tried on to ensure an immaculate fit and then is bonded in to placed and adjusted as necessary.
